How to Get Indexed by Yahoo!

Thursday, October 29, 2009 @ 6:38 pm by ProBlogit.com

I have written about the topic on how to get indexed by Google and Bing search engines, how to get indexed by Google, and how to get indexed by Bing, but have not written yet about on how to get indexed by Yahoo!.

In my experience, to get indexed by Yahoo! is not really that difficult. The difficult part is, how are you going to get the top spot on the search engine results page (SERP) of Yahoo! Search.

If you would like your blog or site to get indexed by Yahoo!, all you have to do is read the details at Yahoo! Search Submission page. You can then submit your site for free at the Site Explorer – Submit page or Site Explorer – Yahoo! Site Explorer page for inclusion in Yahoo! Search.

This submission requires Yahoo! registration, so make sure you have an account with Yahoo!. If you have no account yet, just sign up for a Yahoo! account at https://login.yahoo.com/.

After you submitted the site, you will be redirected to sign in at Yahoo! Then you will be redirected again to the page shown below.

It says:

Thank you! Your URL has been added to our list of URLs to crawl. Please expect a delay of several weeks before your URL is crawled.

Note that in the effort to maximize the quality of search results that appear on Yahoo! and our other distribution partners, we do not add every submitted URL to our search index. Therefore we cannot make predictions or guarantees about whether your URL will appear as a search result.

That’s all!

But you might need to authenticate your site though, then authenticate your site.

And if you would like to make sure that your site was really added, click “My Sites” at the sidebar on the left.

If the site is listed, then everything is fine.

If you do not see the site, fill out the one line form provided, then click “Add My Site” button.

If you need to authenticate your site, then authenticate your site.

Once you authenticated your site, Yahoo! will crawl and index your site whenever it wants. Your site will be crawled and will be indexed but there is no assurance that your site will be at the top spot of the Yahoo! search engine results page.
