Last Monday FedEx delivered a package for me but I was not able to get it. FedEx left a note where to call to schedule another delivery. They also called up but I was on the other line so I was not able to talk to the caller. I was already wondering who could possibly sent me a package because I did not receive any notice from my family or friends to expect any package.

The next morning I called the toll free line of FedEx. Upon hearing the prepared instructions, I thought I had to pick up the package as I heard nothing about new delivery but a new pick up schedule. I just dialed the number for pick up and when I asked the lady that FedEx told my husband to call to schedule another delivery, she said the package will in fact be going to be delivered to me. I asked the lady from whom was the package but she only said about Leed’s and it had something to do with electronics.

A few minutes before 2:00pm the delivery lady of FedEx arrived. I did not open the package right away as I was thinking that maybe it was just a mistake. I looked at all the papers accompanying the package. It was not written on the paper what kind of electronics or things were inside the package. There was no indication that it was from Google but somewhere written was this company called Think Big Creations. I searched for Think Big Creations and there I found some products like Google being sold.

I really hesitated opening the package but then I thought to myself that it was after all addressed to me so it must really be for me. When I opened the package, I had the back of the box facing me so I thought it was not from Google. Then I just realized that I had the back and when I turned it around, there it was, Google and underneath it was LEED’S.

I opened the box and there I saw a Google optical mouse, a wireless mouse in fact, a receiver for the mouse which I first thought a flash drive, a PS/2 adaptor for the mouse, a Google 4-port USB Hub, and a Google ballpen.

I was really surprised. I did not know what made Google to send me this nice gift. I searched the net and found out that some people already got this kind of package as a Christmas gift way back in December 2005 in a sort of leather-type case. So what made Google sent me this package when it is not even Christmas yet? There was no letter at all to explain anything.

I received a Christmas gift certificate from Google worth 100 Swiss Francs in 2007 for being an AdSense publisher but the certificate was for AdWords. It just expired on December 31, 2008 but never really used it. Then last year dated November 20, 2008, I got another Christmas Google gift certificate worth 75 Swiss Francs as an AdSense publisher and the certificate was again for AdWords but have not used it yet.

I really did not expect anything from Google despite the gift certificates. When I read about this Google gift, some mentioned that it had something to do with being a big earner AdSense publisher or AdWords advertiser. But I am neither of the two, I am not a big earner AdSense publisher neither do I advertise using AdWords. I do not know the requirements or policies of Google for me to get a surprise Google gift, it is not even Christmas yet, but I tell you, I really appreciate it.

If you read my blog entry about making money from Google AdSense, you should have seen that there are several ways to make money with Google AdSense. But it is not easy to implement everything especially since the other features are still in beta and for invitation only.

So, the next best thing to earn from Google AdSense is through AdSense for Search, that is if you know know how to really make use of this search box. You have got to optimize your search box so users and readers will see them immediately. Do not let them search for your search box. That is why the search box is there for your readers to use it if they would like to search for something.

Do not hide your search box, it is a necessary tool to help your readers especially if you have a lot of blog entries. Place it in an area in your blog where they will see it immediately just like what I have done on this blog. The more the users see your search box, the more they will use it.

You do not earn when your readers use the search box. But you will definitely earn money from AdSense for Search if your readers use the search box and then click the advertisement at the search results page. If the users will not click on the ad at the search results page, then you will not receive any earnings. But if the users see that the ad is relevant from what they are looking for, they are normally clicking the ad.

If you are going to implement what I have done, observe how often your readers use your search box and share with us your experience. In my case, I have seen an increase at the way my readers use my search boxes in my other blogs. I know, that is why I am recommending it to you to make use of your search box. One more thing, do not forget to customize the appearance of the search results and ads.

Google AdSense is probably the most popular Pay Per Click advertising program among probloggers and hobby bloggers to make money online. Google AdSense is a free advertising program that allows web publishers like bloggers and probloggers to display ads on their blogs and then earn from valid clicks and impressions on those ads.

You as the publisher may not click on your ads or encourage anyone to click on your ads. If Google sees that you click on your ads, as they have ways to monitor it, one is through your IP address, it will be considered invalid clicks and impressions. If it is happening often, it could cause you to be banned from Google AdSense. Kindly read the Google AdSense Program Policies for more detailed information and explanation.

You can earn or make money online from the content on your blog. All what it takes is just a few minutes to sign up for a Google AdSense account and access its features.

1. AdSense for content

This is the common way of earning or making money online. The ads can be placed almost everywhere on your blog, you can put them inside the content itself, on the sidebar, header or footer. You are allowed up to three ads of any sizes on your blog.

2. AdSense for search

This is another way of earning or making money on your blog. I highly suggest that you use this Google AdSense search box instead of the built-in search box. The ads will appear at the search results page once the user use the search box to search for something. You do not earn if the users will use the search box. You can only earn once the users click on the ads on the search results page.

3. AdSense for mobile content

If you also designed your blog for mobile gadgets or phones not only for computers, then you can earn or make money from those ads too.

4. AdSense for feeds

A blog has RSS feed. The ads will appear at the RSS feed of your blog. Users can subscribe free to your blog via RSS feed. It is not necessary to visit the blog if the full text of the content is being shown at the RSS feed. The feed can be configured from your blog that for each article in a feed, you either allow to show the full text of the content or the summary of the content only.

5. AdSense for domains

You can earn or make money from you unused domains. You need to configure this so the name servers point to your domain name. Ads appear almost all over as the main content of the site.

6. AdSense for video

You can also earn or make money from your videos but this is still in limited beta. It is not open to everyone. You need to be somehow invited for you to be able to join and use AdSense for video. As of now while it is in beta, I see that the ads appear while the video is being played.

7. AdSense for games

You can earn or make money from ads on your browser-based games but this is also still in limited beta.

For bloggers and probloggers, the first four features namely AdSense for content, AdSense for search, AdSense for mobile content, and AdSense for feeds are the useful ones to make money online. AdSense for domains can only be applicable to the unused domain names, not to blogs. AdSense for video and AdSense for games are still in limited beta, so you need to wait until it will be opened to everyone.

It is easy to sign up for Google AdSense account especially if you already have a Google account. Remember I asked you to sign up for Google Analytics account before? Hop on to Google AdSense site now and sign up for free Google AdSense account using the Google account that you used when you signed up for Google Analytics account.

Reality check! There is no guarantee if you will really earn or make money from Google AdSense or any advertising program. It takes time to earn or make money from Google AdSense. If you have no content, it is unlikely that you will earn. If you have no traffic or no visitors in your blog, it is also unlikely that you will earn. What am I trying to point out here? It means that you need to write content for your blog and you need to promote your blog.
