Goals, Priorities and Determination

Wednesday, September 2, 2009 @ 11:08 am by ProBlogit.com

If you set a goal and want to achieve that goal, set your mind into it and you will get it.

Ever since I came back from vacation in May, my priorities changed. I was again on vacation in July, so I was not able to write a lot on this blog. My priorities right now are more directed at my personal hobby which is golf. Problogging is taking a back seat at the moment and golfing is at the center stage.

I was a little bit hesitant to tell you the story of my golfing experience but I thought that sharing it with you would give you the same encouragement to achieve your goals. I am telling you this story because I always like to compare problogging from playing golf. The things that you need to achieve your goals be it in problogging or playing golf have similarities, that is if you are familiar with golf. If not, try to replace golf with your own game.

Whatever game you play, you need to set your goals. You need to set your priorities. You need determination, patience and perseverance to achieve those goals.

Last year I set some goals for the year 2009. One of those goals was concerning golf and that was to decrease my handicap to below 18. So I started working on it and training myself mentally. Taking a vacation in the Philippines in May this year and having played golf even just twice only made me realize that I can actually achieve having a handicap below 18 as I saw that I actually improved my game.

When I came back here in Switzerland and participated on the golf tournaments starting June 13, 2009, I was able to decrease my handicap, slowly but satisfying enough. I even won a few prizes for playing better than my previous handicap. You can read my blog entry about it at Perks of Playing Golf at my personal website at Sofie Hofmann dot com. I just thought that if I set a goal and if I would like to achieve it, all I have to do is set my mind into it and I will definitely be able to get it. I really had this determination to get a handicap below 18.

Taking a golf vacation in Ireland in July gave me another chance to practice playing in a lower area than in our golf club. I was able to determine what club or iron should I use on certain distances as I was a little bit confused about it for a certain time. I made some changes in my golf swing, my golf grip, my stand, and the way I think. I have more self-confidence now. I started believing in myself that I can achieve lowering my handicap. Two weeks after I came back from vacation in Ireland, I was able to achieve my goal to decrease my handicap to below 18.

On August 1, 2009, I decreased my handicap 18.6 to handicap 17.6, and on August 8, 2009, I decreased my handicap 17.6 to handicap 17. To give you an idea about this achievement, on January 2009, I had a handicap 21. Lowering my handicap was not done overnight, it was done in different stages, in various weekly golf tournaments from June 2009 to August 2009.

I set a goal and I was so determined to achieve it. I set my mind into it and I got it.

So what does it have to do with problogging. Well, you can definitely apply it in problogging too. Set your problogging goals. Set your mind into achieving those goals. Set up some strategies to achieve those goals. Study your strategies carefully. Apply your strategies to achieve those goals. Some of your strategies may work or may not work but trial and error will always give you some lessons to learn. Learn from those errors and see where you should focus. If a change is needed, do not hesitate to make some changes.

In my case, as I have said, problogging is taking a back seat. I have not been exploring the make money blogging business for quite some time. I have nothing to share at the moment but I will try to share with you some topics other than making money problogging.

As you can see, I have been sharing other topics with you like how to optimize your site or how to get indexed by Google and Bing. For the meantime that problogging is taking a back seat, let me share some other things with you other than making money online.

    Nice post, Sofie.

It’s true that one must keep a strong focus on whatever it is in life that you want to achieve. Without goals, we’re just drifting around hoping something will come our way.

I’ve always said that if you don’t know where you’re going, no one is going with you.

Stay true to your goals and beliefs and good luck with that handicap 🙂
