Problogging, Golf and Patience

Friday, April 24, 2009 @ 11:53 pm by ProBlogit.com

Problogging is not an easy task. I have been contemplating on it and I know that I really need a lot of commitment to survive. It is not really easy to be problogging everyday. I sometimes think why I give myself a hard time blogging everyday when I can also do it once a week or once a month just like I used to do.

I could actually compare this to golf not in terms of playing golf everyday but in terms of having a commitment to learn the game, and that is how I see problogging, having the commitment to learn the business.

When I started playing golf, I could not seem to strike that one tiny ball from the ground. I got frustrated but I kept on practicing. It took me more than a year before I had the courage to join a few tournaments, and so I was able to get my handicap. When playing golf, it would take more than 4 hours to finish the game of golf and oftentimes under the heat of the sun. If you have no patience with the game especially with all the mistakes you make hole per hole, you probably would give up. In playing golf, you need to have a lot of patience and discipline. I have seen so many hobby golfers cursing on the golf course every time they fail to make a par on the hole.

With problogging, you need to have a lot of patience and discipline too to be able to blog everyday. You need to prioritize things if you committed yourself to writing an article everyday. Problogging is not about making money online overnight, like golf where you will not be able to get your handicap overnight. It takes a lot of patience to learn the business of problogging just like when you are playing golf on the course.

I know very well that it will take time before I earn money from problogging just like when I waited until I got my handicap. It will take time to earn a big amount of money from problogging just like how I hope to be able to have a single handicap too. I do not have a single handicap yet but with a lot of practice, patience and perseverance, maybe one day I will be able to get that, just like in problogging where I am hoping to be earning a certain amount of money someday.

The difference is, playing golf is a hobby like blogging, but problogging is a different matter. It is now my work. I have to treat it as a job. The term job is what actually makes it different. You and I are now both in a different league as I see it. I know that doing the things once a month will not make you earn money. People earn because they work everyday. And that is how we should do things with problogging.

Another important aspect when we are doing this kind of job, we have to love problogging just like how we love blogging when it was still our hobby. And we need to have a lot, really lots of patience and perseverance. As we all know, patience is a virtue.
